When thinking about the value of diamonds is not unusual to think of each diamond is worth a good sum of money. While this is generally true, there are some important features that affect the value of diamonds, in particular, the 4C’s cut, color, and clarity and carat weight. But let’s look at one that is not mentioned too often, the diamond certificate.

While the 4C have a major impact on the value of the diamond, a certificate will further increase the value. Why? Well, no matter how perfect the diamond can be, without certification, there is no way to prove the authenticity of your credit without having to send to a lab for certification.

It is important to note those two diamonds of similar reach very different prices depending on whether or not a certificate. It is also important to remember that small testing laboratories that are affiliated with a store, in general, need not be treated as the cause of their membership. Due to the fact that not all laboratories are accurate diamond grading there are some who are well known internationally and are not affiliated with the sale of diamonds in the body. It is the American Gemological Society, the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), European Gemological Laboratories (EGL) and the International Gemological Institute (IGI).
